APRIL 2021 NEWSLETTER

MAIN RIDGE TENNIS CLUB Newsletter - April, 2021. Dear Members, We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break and are ready for another term of tennis fun/activity. Main Ridge Tennis Club is working towards the following objectives as we emerge from challenging times. These include: * To facilitate the return of tennis while ensuring a safe environment for members. * To ensure the club remains financially viable. * To continue attending to maintenance issues. * To foster healthy club/coach relationships, and promote quality coaching experiences. * To regularly communicate to our members. The update from Tennis Victoria in February allowed the return of all tennis activity which was welcomed by all. We are working to ensure that all members follow Covid-safe principles on and off the court. Court 3 has been resurfaced and members have been enjoying playing on the new court. We are still waiting on some final work to improve the evenness between courts 2 and 3, as well as repairs to the holes in Courts 1 and 2. Two new light globes are soon to be replaced on Court 3. Court maintenance is expensive therefore fundraising is vital to our club’s financial wellbeing. Unfortunately we had to cancel the Bunnings BBQ in April, our major fundraiser, due to lack of volunteers. We hope to be offered another date later in the year, and very much appreciate those members who did offer to volunteer their time. The Coach’s contract at MRTC has expired recently, and the committee has appointed a new coach, Peter Thrupp. He is to take over coaching services at the club in Term 2. Peter is a Tennis Australia qualified coach and has technical expertise to assist in developing skills and maximise potential in the sport. We are planning an introduction day with Peter, and will advise you of the date. We thank Zaki for his enthusiasm and coaching services for the past two years, and wish him well in his forthcoming ventures. The MRTC committee members are committed to meeting regularly to address any issues and we will endeavour to keep members appraised of any developments. We always welcome feedback from members and invite your input and support. I would like to thank the members of the committee who work tirelessly to support the club. Sincerely, Jarrad Lees, President, Jan Wilmot, Vice President Main Ridge Tennis Club
