Clarendon Bowling Club

KEVIN JOHN SPENCER

A member of Clarendon Bowling Club for more than 35 years, and as a result of the generosity of his family, Kevin's name will live on in the renaming of the green as The Kevin Spencer Memorial Green.

Raymond, his son and current Club Patron, donated the majority of the funds for the replacement of the tired old grass green with a new synthetic playing surface completed in 2011.

Some of Kevin's noteworthy achievements:

  • Joined the club in 1962 and became a skipper in August  1966
  • Appointed Green Master in September 1966 at $1.50 per hour. Green Keeper until 1970
  • Elected Junior Vice President on 24th July 1967
  • Elected Junior Vice President of the Southern Bowling Association in 1975, Senior Vice President in 1977
  • President of the Southern Bowling Association in 1979
  • Transferred to Happy Valley Bowling Club in September 1983 to assist in establishing a new Club.

Rejoined Clarendon Bowling Club in 1988

  • Club singles champion 1966
  • Awarded an 8-badge on 8th January 1968
  • Runner up Singles champion in 1968, 1969, 1973 and 1995
  • Club Pairs Champion 1973/74 and 1981/82 with W Stratfield
  • Club President 1972/73, 1973/74, 1992/93 and 1993/94
  • Granted Life Membership on July 1st 1996 (K Wright, President and  A Hall Secretary)
  • Elected as a Country Divisional Councillor to the Royal South Australian Bowling Association.
