Awards

Teamwork in sport is essential, and at Saints Rugby, we aim to instil the importance of working as a team from an early age.

Players that understand and demonstrate the right values and attributes invariably become excellent team players.

The individual awards that we present each year take these qualities into account.

All Under 6 and Under 7 players receive a medal to reward their commitment and participation throughout the season.

All teams from Under 6 through to Under 11 have three individual awards, which are decided by the coaching team:

  • Player of the Year – This is awarded to the player that has been the standout performer on the field, over the course of the season.
  • Most Improved Player of the Year – This award will be awarded to the player who has shown the most improvement throughout the season in terms of their performance on the field.
  • Inspiring Excellence Award – Arguably the most coveted of the three awards, it is awarded to the player who has best illustrated the following qualities:
    • Consistently giving their ‘all’ in both matches and training, in an attempt to be the best that they can be
    • Displaying good sportsmanship and respect at all times to fellow teammates, opposing players, match officials and coaches
    • Leading by example, both on and off the pitch
    • Displaying an unselfish and genuine team ethic, and inspiring teammates to do the same.
