Noosa Rugby Union Club President's Update

In these challenging and unprecedented times, Noosa Rugby Club is committed to ensuring our community is regularly updated. We will be relaying all advice received from Rugby Australia (RA), Queensland Rugby (QRU) and Sunshine Coast Rugby Union (SCRU) pertaining to COVID-19/Coronavirus through social media channels and the Club's newsletter.

The well being of all our players, coaches, supporters and sponsors is front of mind for the Junior & Senior management committee’s. Compliance with government directives is paramount to support containment efforts but during this period, if members of our community are isolated or require assistance with the simple things (i.e. shopping), we have a dedicated and committed playing group that is willing to help.

These are worrying times for everyone including Noosa Rugby Club and the Noosa community at large. Thankfully, the spirit of Rugby will help us come through this time.

Our business community is of course entering uncharted territory. Now, more than ever, we need to support each other through the next phase of this crisis. Anything we can do to support our families & businesses, we are here to support you.

When this crisis is over and we return to our fantastic club we will have a “Call To Arms”.

The community will be welcomed back to view the projects that hopefully will be completed in time for the start of our revised season. The new scoreboard, machinery shed, gym and security / solar lighting system will all be on show.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Pete Cutcliffe, Andy Hunt and all the players who put in a full shift last Saturday to erect the scoreboard and clean and disinfect the gym. This is very much appreciated and a true reflection of our club community.

As it stands, training is scheduled to commence on the 2nd of May with competition games to start on the 11th of June. If required, the season could extend into October or November. We will keep you updated on developments for the season as we learn more from our affiliates.

During this period, the physical and mental health and well being of the Noosa Rugby community is important. Please make sure you look after family & friends.

Exercise remains an important aspect of everyone's lives. To stay connected, our players will be posting some exercises and skills & drills that you may like to complete in your own back yard. This should be a bit of fun and hopefully not too many back yard windows will be smashed (If this does happen, blame Ryan Frisby). Keep an eye on social media streams in the coming days .

Noosa Rugby is here for you. Please contact myself 0437013648 or Geno Costin at geno_costin@hotmail.com

Once again please take care and stay safe as we move into the next phase of the COVID-19/Coronavirus crisis.
